David Gordon-Smith and John Holbeck recently took over as landlords of the wonderful Foresters Arms in Graffham. They know the area well, living just up the road in Stoughton. David is especially fond of Graffham, having studied at Seaford College which is just a few minutes away.

Before taking over at The Foresters, David and John opened what is now an extremely popular tapas restaurant – Arties Kitchen, in Chichester.

Always up for a new adventure, the pair enjoyed a serendipitous meeting with a man called Peter Bradley which resulted in the offer of David and John taking over the lease of The Foresters!

When David and John took over, the inn had been closed for over two years. It was in great need of a sympathetic update and some serious attention, both financially and emotionally. Happily, David and John were keen to take on the task.

Having found a restoration team that experience in this kind of project, the internal appearance of the inn was totally transformed. David and John are delighted with the finished look and feel of The Foresters Arms, and hope very much that the village locals are too.

Both David and John, along with their staff manager Sebastian and head chef, Miguel look forward to welcoming all who visit the beautiful village of Graffham and surrounding South Downs National Park. From locals to campers, cyclists to ramblers and of course our canine friends too, we can’t wait to meet you.

Enjoy a pint of your favourite local ale at our stunning new bar area. We think you’ll agree, it’s quite an upgrade from its previous incarnation!

Our new dining room is unrecognisable from its former self. Cosy, comfortable and relaxing, a place to do the quality of your food justice.

As you can see, our new garden speaks for itself! Perfect for a pint in the sunshine.

Country Pub nestled in the South Downs at Graffham. Think log fires, oak beams, wooden floors and relaxed, good food. 01798 867386

Fine Grade II-listed traditional country pub built in 1609 and extended in Victorian times. An attractive garden and an impressive inglenook with blazing logs in winter make this a popular venue, as does its proximity to the South Downs Way and other fine walking country. Recently purchased on the open market and the new owner is currently trying out lots of different beers with the locals. Firebird Heritage XX is popular and will probably be a regular and there are currently up to 2 guest beers which are sourced from local independent breweries. The pub is currently opening winter hours as listed up to the end of March. For the summer months there are plans to open all day every day.
